Title: Automated Machine Learning (AutoML) Abstract: Automated Machine Learning (AutoML) is a relatively recent development in our field. I will discuss the basics of AutoML, most popular tools, and how they compare with each other. The Thursday session will briefly cover the paper: "Towards Automated Machine Learning: Evaluation and Comparison of AutoML Approaches and Tools" by Truong et al. (2019), which offers the most comprehensive review on the topic (to my knowledge). Figure 2 and Sections I, II, & V may be read for those not willing to read in full. https://arxiv.org/abs/1908.05557 The session will also cover a Colab code demo where AutoML frameworks are compared on datasets. Challenges of AutoML in NLP will be discussed, such as why it hasn't seen wide scale implementations. Speaker: Pranav Rai - 2nd year MSc.
